Three colours in the kitchen

I completed this kitchen and dinette design a few months back but have been busy with the project management of the sauna and a few other design projects.

This kitchen design features a fantastic backsplash that is the current trend right now – a seamless countertop material. I love this design and can’t wait to see it completed in more renovations.

My design includes three different cabinet finishes which is again on trend. Although the cabinet panels are shaker style (a trend that hasn’t changed for years!!) using different colours adds dimension and separates work spaces.

Visually it is stunning.

Over a decade ago we saw the introduction of an Island being a different colour from the main cabinetry. The concept was that the Island was new, so let’s draw attention to it.

This trend of three or more colours allows homeowners who want to update a part of their worn kitchen without a complete overhaul.

For example, my kitchen is now ten years old. One bank of my cabinetry is really abused – the one that houses the sink, dishwasher and waste bins. The rest of the cabinetry is fine.

My countertops are also outdated – a brown mixed granite.

I am planning on updating all my countertops and renovating one bank of cabinetry. Introducing a new colour will fit with the trend because my Island is already a second colour. Watch for my post in February 2022 for my vision.

Back to the project...Here is a view of the kitchen and the banquette.

This next pic showcases a new glass railing, a custom built in banquette, new lighting, table and chairs. For the purpose of this digital drawing only two chairs are illustrated but the space allows for more.

I have selected a wide plank light wood flooring and combination carpet on the tread and wood risers on the stairs.

I relied on nearby suppliers for this project. If you are thinking of remodeling your home, reach out to me for design packages.
