Rather than remove, we adapted!

As soon as you walk through the extended and renovated Foyer the colour scheme is established. I designed a custom mudroom bench that allows for comfortable seating, hooks for countless coats, cubbies for helmets and gloves, and bays for boots. The tall cabinet can easily accommodate the vacuum and broom.

The flooring is by Mohawk luxury line Karastan. It is a fantastic product that goes over floor heating, it is waterproof and overall tough which is needed for this ski resort home.

The window covering has a denim weave which adds colour depth and a kick of cool.

Sleek LED flush mounted lighting is ideal for this 8ft ceiling height.

Moving into the living room. I have lightened up the space with a bit of white on the accent chair and the floor lamp but laid down some weight with the sofa. That lamp is stunning… at 66 inches high it becomes a sculpture with the benefit of casting light. The base is ceramic and the etchings are to please the client with her appreciation for texture.

The swivel chairs are highly functional for this space. The clients like to enjoy morning coffee looking out their windows facing the mountain. Come evening they can swivel their chairs toward their custom-built media unit and sip wine by the fire.

I will never tire of these dining chairs. I think they are fabulous. Just the right amount of seat and leg. I like the look of other contemporary chairs where the backs of the chair have cut outs but not in this environment. I want the client to feel cozy and cocooned.

Stay tuned for Part II - The Bedroom Edition & Part III - Rec Rooms and Bathrooms.
